INTRODUCING . . .

ONOFFON

DON LAKE - guitars, vocals, harmonica, keyboards

"I was born on a ship that I helped my father build,
while on the open sea.
Though, having never been formally introduced to my parents,
I moved inward to gather my life.
When I started-up the guitar,
the middle sea was just the middle sea.
As the sweet intoxication of jazz seduced me,
there was no telling of what was the middle sea.
But, now that I'm jazzed, dancing freely,
I feel my bones with you and the middle sea."

DAVE GOODE - drums and percussion

"I've been eating 7-11 hot dogs, drinking arco minimarket coffee,
swallowing generic aspirin, cooking kraft dinners and sleeping
on strange couches ever since I saw the costa mesa high school
drum line do their cadence - that was my first inspiration and
there's been no looking back since. My path to poverty continued;
seeing Tommy Aldridge with Black Oak Arkansas - going through
the Percussion Institute of Technology financed entirely off of top
40 gigs - seeing Dave Weckl and Dennis Chambers play their ballsy
brands of fusion - and, most recently, the group, Stomp. Now, my goal is
to put all of this inspiration into the music of ONOFFON - it's definitely
the most openminded and experimental band I've been in."

- DAVY B. GOODE -

VON BABASIN - bass, vocals, keyboards

"I learned my selfless dedication to music and my love of
anything well played from my father, one of the most
innovative jazz bassists of all time,
Harry "The Bear" Babasin -
and I learned how to really "jam" when I used to hike up into
Big Tujunga Canyon with amplifiers and Honda generators and
play all weekend long with my friends - people would come from
miles around to be a part of our "Mountain Jams" - sometimes
they'd be broken up by sheriffs and rangers in 4-wheel drives, on
horseback, or even helicopters, but we always had a real good time."

- ONOFFON: Words to live by -

"Music - the second greatest invention of the human
mind" ... "Look straight ahead and strive for tone" ...
"If you can't read the chart - don't play - if you can't feel
one - get out of the band" ... "The worst thing in the world
is a good friend who's a bad musician" ... "At the first
sight of a critic - hide the root" ... "To maintain a healthy
life, one should consult their physician only upon death" ...
"Simple philosophy - the wheel of karma moves in all directions -
what is, is and what ain't, ain't - eventually we will all become
THE greatest invention of the human mind."
